Tell us about your passion and patent

It is a fact that up to 20% of population frequently complaint about Varicose veins and spider veins. Although, there are many possible complications that arise from the varicose veins the most frequently encountered concern is cosmetic in nature. As a vascular surgeon, I have concentrated in treatment of varicose veins and spiders for almost 25 years. The aim of my treatment and teaching has been to create a perfect leg in all patients irrespective of the severity on varicose veins. I have invented a patented device by which we can eliminate the source of varicose veins first, thus allowing all the other veins and spiders to be eliminated, and resulting in a perfect leg. We have 2 offices in NY, one in New York City called Park Avenue Vein Center and the other one in Rye called Rye Vein- Laser Center. People all over the world are interested in our treatment and expect a perfect leg after the completion of their treatment period. The entire treatment of varicose veins and spider veins are conducted in the offices set up without the usage of any major anesthesia. All patients can resume their activity immediately and fly back to their respective destinations if they need to. Many of our patients also know us through our pictorial book, ‘Perfect Legs’.

Q.How did you start up with the business?

I graduated from Santa Clara University and then started working as a web developer for a while. Internet has always held my interest ever since I first learned about it; strictly because, in the online world anything is possible! You can start with virtually nothing but still able to build something of value. That’s very encouraging. We will probably have a much harder time opening a store, considering all the overhead cost that goes into it, if not for the internet. My partner is a stationery designer, mainly for invitations and greeting cards. She owns her own brand and understands about designs. Working together, we came up with Ochelly.

Q. What ignited the spark in you to start a new business venture or to make significant changes in an existing business?

We always cherished the idea of opening an online retail store. But finding a certain niche and choosing what kind of products to sell took all the time. There was even an idea of selling cell phone straps and some other cute things. But those alone probably would not have sustained the business. Eventually we agreed that we wanted to offer products that are attractive and unique as gifts but yet useful and practical. Home comes as a natural choice. Gifts for home are always welcome; whether they are photo frames or cheese graters, they do bring a smile on the face as well as are useful.

His first visit to a winery was when he was in college during a business trip. Soon Byron Williams, owner of Grand Cru Wine Tours, decided to venture out on his own to establish a tour company offering personalized Oregon wine tours. His road to fame was not easy, starting with limited knowledge and pricing of wines beyond what he could afford, he has built a wealth of knowledge of the Oregon wine industry. However his experiences were far more concrete than his fears that helped him achieve success in Oregon Willamette Valley wine country; a wine tour company that would bridge the gap from beginner to aficionado!

Having explored many of Oregon's wineries, he established Grand Cru Wine Tours so that he could share his wonderful experience of Oregon wines with others. Mr. Williams fell in love with Pinot Noir several years ago and in order to learn more, started working in a winery tasting room and taking classes at Chemeketa Community College's viticulture center. Having obtained a business degree from Oregon State University and worked in the accounting field, he decided it was time to open his own business which now stands tall.

Here at Ebrandz, we ventured into his tour company to get a feel for his grand ambition and his make-it-large passion that all teams up to a great success.

Tell us something about your wine tour business?

I operate Grand Cru Wine Tours. We are a wine tour guide located in the heart of Oregon’s wine country, near Salem Oregon to be precise and serving clients from Portland to Eugene.

I visited my first winery while still in college during a business trip wherein I was fortunate enough to be able to be led on through the winery by the owner. We enjoyed a great tasting and a wealth of information, to which I owe the foundation of my venture.

Kindly give us a brief description about yourself?

I have been doing event planning for about 8 years before making a full-time profession and hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Masters of Business Administration. In the event of helping organize events for friends and family, I was approached by a decorator to pursue it further. That’s where it all began.

What inspired you to start a new business venture or to make significant changes in an existing business? How did the idea for your business come about?

Event planning has always been a passion of mine. From the very beginning I have been very organized, results-oriented, and deadline driven. I love event planning with extravagant décor and pay attention to all the details of an event to make it one of a kind. I started off planning events for family and friends and realized I could become a successful planner. This led me to a partnership with a florist and offering planning services. And quite likely after a couple of years I decided to start my very own company!

Victor Shevtsov is the project manager for Tour De Force and the Ebrandz team caught up with him for an exclusive interview on Tour De Force and his mantras to success.

Kindly give us a brief about yourself. When did Tour De Force happen to you?

I was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Russia, in 1979 and graduated from the State St. Petersburg University (Economic Faculty) in 2001. I was always interested in marketing, sales and business development management, but of course not in a specific field. Today, I have a range of experiences that span across consulting, project management, mobile content services and telemarketing.

I joined the Tour de Force team in February 2009 as a Project Manager for the Tour De Force web site (www.tourdeforce.travel). And till today my goal remains the same which is to increase traffic to the web site, expand on-line sales and optimize our internet marketing strategy.

How important have good employees been to your success?

I believe that the right people make all the difference. At certain stages of the company’s growth, it is very important to hire the best employees who will push the business forward. Not new technologies, not unique products or the best prices — just people. I always try to find the best specialists or managers, I can.

But of course, it shouldn’t take you long to understand if you’ve hired the right person. Personally, if I see that I hired the wrong person, I do not hesitate to bid “good bye” to him or her immediately.

Please tell us who is Genco Berk?

I am a second generation architect/ interior designer with more than 30 years experience. Growing up as child of two artists was of course a very special educational experience, which some one cannot get in school.
I spend my childhood in Germany, where my father worked as a free lance architect. He then continued his profession as an interior designer in Istanbul which gave me the chance to live in the culture of my origin. After studying architecture in the US and Turkey, I moved to Vienna and worked there as free lance designer for 14 years. Since 2004 I am executing projects mainly in China, Japan and Europe.

Per Koch is the founder of Pandia.com . Because of Pandia.com Per is considered an European expert on Internet searching and the search engine industry. Per also works as Director of analysis and strategic development at The Research Council of Norway. The eBrandz team has been trying for a long time to do an interview with Per. But because of his busy schedule it was difficult for him to find time for an interview. However, he finally found time to chat with us. These are excerpts from the interview :-

1) How and when did you decide to Start Pandia.com ?
That was actually as far back as in 1998. I worked at the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research at the time, in the field of science and technology policy. The Minister had asked me to be a member of the editorial committee of a magazine the Ministry was publishing, and as a member I proposed to add an Internet column and a website focusing on online resources for teachers. I learned a lot about the Internet and search engines this way, so when Parliament decided to close down the magazine, my wife Susanne and I came up with the idea to use this knowledge for a site on search.I like to say that Pandia was started as an act of Parliament!

I have been in the hair replacement business for 20+ years and customers were looking for a solution, but didn’t always want a transplant or a hair piece. I originally thought how I can make their hair look thicker right away, so I got my wife’s spice grinder and took some strands of hair and ground them up. I then found a shaker cap and tried to sprinkle a few strands into a person’s hair and the look on both of our faces was ‘’wow’’ it looks thicker. Don’t worry, I bought her a new spice grinder. The rest is history, now we sell thousands of kilos of hair fibers in our brand ‘’Surethik hair thickening fibers’’ and we also contract manufacture for many cosmetic companies as well.

Tell us a little bit about Van der Stahl Scientific?

Our program is a small group of engineers that has been very technology-forward in creating unique solutions for our medical device customer.

I founded Van der Stahl Scientific in the early 1990s. After a career in medical device scalpels and surgical instruments, mostly for the ophthalmic surgical industry, it was clear to me that there was a need for better packaging technology. Working with overseas manufacturing partners, I have developed and patented a variety of systems to help companies made certain that their medical devices reach the point of use oftentimes in a surgical theater with their sterility or efficaciousness not compromised.
