Yahoo! Launches PPC Mobile Ads

Yahoo! has started a beta trial of paid-for search results on its mobile internet service in the UK and US.
Internet giant Yahoo, lately said that it has launched a beta version of sponsored text advertising tied to mobile search in the United States and the United Kingdom, a move that gives the portal a jump on rivals Google and Microsoft.

The company introduced the new Mobile Sponsored Search product as a beta service offering advertisers text-based ads, an immediate wireless Web presence with a Yahoo-created landing page and a console to manage mobile marketing campaigns.

Google Subpoenas Amazon, Microsoft, and Yahoo

Google is gearing for what could be a watershed legal battle with the global book publishing community and has issued subpoenas to major publishers, as well as rivals Yahoo, Amazon and Microsoft, requesting information about their book scanning projects.

The requests came as Google prepares to defend itself against a lawsuit filed by the Association of American Publishers and the Authors Guild over its plans to make portions of copyright books available online.

Google wants documents detailing every book the companies have made available online or plan to by the end of 2009.

MTV Offers Online Video Content on Baidu

MTV has inked a deal with Baidu.com, China's largest search engine, to distribute music videos via the Internet in China, boosting the music video channel's exposure in a market where regulation has limited its presence.

MTV Networks will share music videos and shows with China Internet search leader Baidu.com in an attempt to reap advertising revenue in the world's second-largest Internet market, the two companies said.

Improvements and additions to Windows Live OneCare Beta 1.5 include tighter integration with Microsoft's Windows Defender anti-spyware software.

Microsoft recently announced a new beta version of Windows Live OneCare. OneCare Beta 1.5, which can be downloaded and used free of charge, is available in 17 localized editions for countries that include the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, and the U.K. Earlier editions were for U.S. customers only.

The search site launches service designed specifically for cell phones and handheld devices.

Ask.com has rolled out a new service for searching the Web from mobile phones and handheld devices known as Ask Mobile. Ask unveiled the new product at DigitalLife, a consumer event held in New York City.

Ask Mobile's interface and search tool are designed to minimize keystrokes, increase navigability on small displays and accelerate page loads to speed searches on the go.
