Google Discontinues Sync Support And Other Services In Winter Purge

San Francisco - It is that time of year again-with Winter Google begins leading its ostensibly lonely and unloved services out to pasture. The search engine giant over the weekend announced that they are doing some “winter cleaning” by getting rid of some of their services and features that they think were not getting a lot of use. One of the significant services they are ought to phase out is its Sync service for consumers and discontinue several other services in early January. (more…)

Google Combats Accidental Ad Clicks With Click Confirmation To In-App Mobile Ads

Mountain View, California - Fat fingers have literally...burnt holes out of advertisers' mobile budgets. Well, how many times have you accidentally clicked on a mobile display ad, when you actually meant to hit the adjacent content on that tiny phone screen? With increasing number of touch screen devices over the past few years, mobile advertising has become a key marketing tool. Now, in order to avoid the untoward glitch, Google has launched a “confirmed clicks” attribute for all in-app image and banner ads on smartphones, in an effort to reduce the number of accidental clicks the ads attract.

Google Maps Lets Users Explore NASA’s Nighttime Black Marble Imagery

Mountain View, California -- It may not seem to be the most worthy of Google Maps features, but using NASA and NOAA's striking images of the Earth after dark imagery sure is pretty. Google announced today in a Google+ post that there is a new layer in Google Maps, which the web giant is now letting users explore Earth's far-reaching lands filled with flickering lights using imagery from NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's “Black Marble.”

Redmond, Washington - In a fresh move to prove its competence in the growing search market, software behemoth Microsoft's Bing early this week unleashed a feature called “Snapshot” that it hopes would help you find fast factoids about the celebrities or landmarks in your queries with an update that spits out relevant information at the center of your search. YouTube Unfurls Sleek New Design Focused On Subscriptions And Channels

San Francisco -- In a fresh move, Google owned popular video sharing network YouTube is rolling out a brand new look on its website that is designed to help make it easier for viewers to subscribe and watch channels on its site.

Apparently, part of this effort is the expansion of its Guide feature, which now reaches across multiple devices. The YouTube Guide, which helps you keep up with new videos from your subscribed channels and activity from friends, is now more prominent on the site as you browse through everything. That means there is a greater opportunity for you to click on stuff that you have already determined you liked. YouTube is also adding more opportunities for a person to subscribe to a channel with various subscription buttons.
