Angry Birds Star Wars Beta Version Released For Facebook

Los Angeles – Fans of Angry Birds have reason to rejoice as Rovio announced today that its extremely-popular, bird-slinging game Angry Birds Star Wars game is now available on hugely crowded social network Facebook, complete with new power-ups, tournaments, and full social integration.

As of today, Angry Birds fans can play their favorite game on Facebook, which includes all Tatooine levels. The Death star levels will arrive soon. The new app has been “upgraded” to take advantage of Facebook’s social networking capabilities.

Highlighting the feature on latest release, the company executive said, “It is all the fun of Angry Birds Star Wars taken to the next level,” Petri Järvilehto, executive vice president of Games at Rovio, said in a statement. “You get the great Angry Birds Star Wars gameplay for free, plus you can compete against your friends to see who is the ultimate bird-flinger and Jedi Master.”

Rovio last month released the mobile version of Angry Birds Star Wars, and it reached the top of the U.S. iPhone charts within 2.5 hours of release. Rovio further hinted about the advent of Angry Birds onto FaceBook and a tweet from Peter VesterBacka giving a link to the app confirmed its arrival.

Angry Birds Star Wars on Facebook features the same Star Wars-inspired characters and universe as the mobile version, with all new social features, though only the Tatooine levels are unlocked at this time. The Death Star levels are labeled as “coming soon” and there are no signs of the Hoth levels to be found as yet.

The newly unleashed game offers better graphics and it ensures it brings back the Star Wars craze in a way peculiar to Angry Birds. This has already been “Liked” by 22.6 million people on FaceBook.

Stepping forward, the game takes players through an intergalactic journey across the deserts of Tatooine all the way to the depths of the Pig Star. Along the way, you use the Force, and wield a Lightsaber in a quest to blast away the Pig-troopers and take down the evil Darth Vader, “Dark Lord of the Pigs.”

The game will present five new levels each week, constantly challenging fans and offering them new opportunities to show off their Jedi skills. Players will be able to compete against their friends for the chance to earn in-game rewards and become the galaxy’s most powerful Jedi master. You can also send in-game gifts to friends.

There are three new power ups, including Blaster Droid for laser destruction, Saber Sling for super flinging, and Thermal Detonator for planting an explosive surprise. The blaster droid fires a small blaster orb sailing along with a bird. The saber sling greatly increases the distance birds can be flung. The thermal detonator is self-explanatory.

In addition to the power-ups, players can also now use an all-new “Clone Bird” ability to duplicate a bird of their choice for extra-backup during tough levels.

As for now, the weekly tournament does not empower the users to make unlimited attempts at a passing level. The game can be now started with 5 crystals and each time a player loses the game the player cannot pass to the next level of the game. One crystal is reloaded every 12 minutes. This is the second game Rovio has on Facebook after Angry Birds Friends, which made its appearance in the start of this year.
